Contrary to popular belief bonds are not expensive.

A bond should typically cost less than 1% of the overall Contract Sum.

Unlike other classes of insurance the cost of a bond does not increase in line with the risk and is not solely the result of fancy mathematics.

Bondsmen consider the application first and the cost second, and must be absolutely satisfied as to the contractor's ability to complete the project before quoting.

When you consider we would charge less than €10,000 for a bond of €250,000 (more than 1/25) one appreciates how sure we have to be. Not many punters would be attracted at similar odds!
